Privacy is becoming an important discussion in blockchain. Public verification doesn't always mean every detail needs to be publicly visible. $ZEC → Privacy-focused digital currency $XMR → Privacy-oriented payments secret:native → Privacy-enabled smart contracts $ROSE → Oasis privacy and confidential computing ecosystem $MINA → Lightweight blockchain design using zero-knowledge proofs $ZK → ZK-related Ethereum scaling ecosystem $STRK → Starknet scaling infrastructure aleph-zero:native → Privacy-oriented blockchain technology $DASH → Digital payments with optional privacy features $RAIL → Privacy-focused DeFi infrastructure 🟢 Why watch the sector? • Zero-knowledge technology has multiple applications. • Privacy can matter for financial transactions. • Confidential computing may support new use cases. 🔴 Things to watch: • Regulatory uncertainty • Usability and adoption • Technical complexity • Real demand for privacy features My take: Privacy technology has applications beyond hiding transactions. The challenge is making it useful, secure, and accessible. Which privacy project has the most interesting technology?

privacy sector circulating mcap went from ~$13.1b to ~$32.6b in 180 days. that's +149%. zcash:native alone is roughly 63% of the entire market now. i don't think this is just a flash in the pan hype cycle. ethereum:0xa12cc123ba206d4031d1c7f6223d1c2ec249f4f3 and DTCC are showing up on the same open transaction layer as @FireblocksHQ, which is the kind of setup institutions actually need if they're going to move size onchain without leaking their strategies. my take is privacy is going to be a required infrastructure for institutional adoption. without it i'm skeptical you get hundreds of millions of institutional capital onchain in a serious way.

Privacy is essential for banks moving financial operations onchain. But how do institutions protect sensitive data while still giving regulators, auditors and security teams the access they need? @matterlabs co-founder and CEO @gluk64 explains why existing privacy solutions have fallen short and how zero-knowledge proofs could help institutions maintain control over their data without sacrificing oversight. Thank you to @Grayscale for sponsoring the CoinDesk Media Network.

privacy coins are a $78B sector rn. $ZEC alone: $19.6B $XMR: $10.3B $NEAR: $6.5B meanwhile the #1# privacy protocol by revenue on defillama, ahead of tornado and railgun, is $MASK. at ~$45M. that's 0.06% of the sector. zec is ~430x bigger. not saying it gets there. but one of these numbers looks very wrong.
