Roblox has a quiet flip. They put Rent-A-Girlfriend next to Fairy Tail and Knights of Sidonia in the Kodansha catalog. Creators could use the IP and sell branded passes. Then the post got edited. Three titles left. Rent-A-Girlfriend gone. Staff called it “further review.” The policy did not change. The anime did not change. Players spotted the mismatch immediately. Roblox posted it anyway, then pulled it once the comments started. They didn’t change the rules. They changed their mind after the replies.

Developers have earned over $5 billion through DevEx since 2013, including around $1.7 billion in the past 12 months.

Roblox stock is crashing and they say the lack of new viral games is one of the main reasons. The company’s shares have fallen by around 70% over the past year, wiping roughly $70 billion off Roblox’s market value. “We attribute the unforeseen monetization shortfall to a greater-than-expected shift of engagement from high monetizing 2025 vintage viral games to a combination of new and evergreen experiences with lower hourly monetization,”
