A Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU exploded on a Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER motherboard when the computer suddenly shut down during use and failing to boot afterward. The user did not overclock the CPU and only ran DDR5 RAM at 6000 MHz on a very old BIOS from May 2023, before Gigabyte released firmware updates for Ryzen X3D processors. AMD denied the warranty claim and said the damage was due to human error, which adds to the growing number of similar AM5 CPU failures reported on different motherboard brands.

Good news for Ryzen 9000 users. AMD has confirmed that memory encryption support is returning via a BIOS update expected in July after huge community backlash. The feature, called Transparent Secure Memory Encryption (TSME), protects data stored in RAM from physical attacks. It works in the background and needs no extra software. AMD had removed the feature in newer firmware, which led to concerns from users and security enthusiasts. After listening to “community feedback” the company decided to bring it back. AMD’s Ryzen X3D CPUs are so powerful that they were causing physics-related stutters in Apex Legends. Thanks to their massive 3D V-Cache, these processors let the game run at extremely high frame rates, often well over 240 FPS and sometimes pushing toward the 300 FPS cap. Apex Legends uses a physics system built on a heavily modified Source engine that simply wasn’t designed to handle today’s ultra-fast modern CPUs. At those extreme speeds, physics calculations can stall the main thread during complex scenes, leading to noticeable stutters. Respawn Entertainment fixed the problem in the Season 29 “Overclocked” patch. They improved CPU performance on physics calculations, eliminating the stutters that were especially prominent on CPUs like the Ryzen X3D series
