'DeFi Doesn't Exist Anymore' as Onchain Finance Takes Over Flying Tulip (@flyingtulip_) Founder, Andre Cronje (@AndreCronjeTech) says most protocols no longer meet the definition of true decentralized finance. “I don’t think DeFi exists anymore outside of those very small niches,” Cronje told Cointelegraph. He argues that companies, risk committees and other intermediaries now make key decisions across much of the sector. Cronje says the industry has shifted toward “onchain finance” rather than pure DeFi. DeFi TVL has also fallen from $167 billion to about $75 billion over 10 months, according to DeFiLlama.
