Had a great interaction with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan. India and Japan will continue to deepen ties in diverse sectors, with a priority on trade and investment. @takaichi_sanae @G7

Thanks to the powerful bond between @POTUS and Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae the relationship between the United States and Japan is stronger than ever before, and I was happy to share with the Prime Minister my belief that the fundamentals of the Japanese economy are indeed strong and resilient. Over the course of my meeting with the Prime Minister, we exchanged views on the U.S.-Japan investment program, critical minerals, President Trump's upcoming visit to Beijing, and other subjects of mutual interest.

Addressed the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum along with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. It was gladdening to interact with business leaders from both countries, whose enterprise and innovation continue to add new momentum to the India-Japan economic partnership. @takaichi_sanae

The framework for the U.S.-Japan alliance begins with the strong relationship between @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae. We've been in close contact with our Japanese allies, and they are making serious efforts to address the substantial undervaluation of the yen. Through our conversations, we believe they will continue to put the right policies in place to lead the yen’s return to a more normal equilibrium price. Currency intervention is a signal that governments want to change a direction. But only strong, effective policies will result in sustained yen strength.

In the coming months, Japan will develop the FY2027 budget and three new documents: the National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy and Defense Buildup Plan (DBP). Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae has said that these documents "will determine our country’s fate". It will be interesting to watch Japan’s decision and any potential U.S. space sensors or propulsion subcontract announcements.

In advance of @POTUS' historic summit with President Xi in Beijing, I will depart on Monday for a quick series of meetings in both Japan and South Korea. On Tuesday, I will meet in Tokyo with Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae, Finance Minister @satsukikatayama, and other government and private sector representatives for discussions on the U.S.-Japan economic relationship. On Wednesday, I will stop in Seoul for a discussion with Vice Premier He Lifeng of China, before continuing on to Beijing for the Leaders’ Summit between President Trump and President Xi. Economic security is national security, and I look forward to a productive series of engagements as we work to advance President Trump’s America First Economic Agenda.
