.@USTreasury is issuing a temporary 30-day general license to provide the most vulnerable nations with the ability to temporarily access Russian oil currently stranded at sea. This extension will provide additional flexibility, and we will work with these nations to provide specific licenses as needed. This general license will help stabilize the physical crude market and ensure oil reaches the most energy-vulnerable countries. It will also help reroute existing supply to countries most in need by reducing China’s ability to stockpile discounted oil.

In advance of @POTUS’ historic Beijing summit with President Xi, Vice Premier He Lifeng of China and I met in South Korea to discuss the economic and trade relationship between our nations.

In my meeting with President @jaemyung_lee of South Korea, I thanked him for both his hospitality and for the strong alliance between the United States and South Korea. During our broad-ranging discussion, I noted South Korea’s strong economic performance and affirmed the United States’ commitment to advancing economic cooperation between our nations. We also addressed issues pertaining to critical minerals and the implementation of the U.S.-Korea investment agreement.

Chairman Warsh will usher in a new day at an institution that is in need of accountability, sound policy guidance, and the renewed sense of purpose to help guide our economy. Thanks to the powerful bond between @POTUS and Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae the relationship between the United States and Japan is stronger than ever before, and I was happy to share with the Prime Minister my belief that the fundamentals of the Japanese economy are indeed strong and resilient. Over the course of my meeting with the Prime Minister, we exchanged views on the U.S.-Japan investment program, critical minerals, President Trump's upcoming visit to Beijing, and other subjects of mutual interest.

In my discussions with Minister @moteging, I commended Japan on its economic resilience. Economic security is national security, and the United States is grateful for Japan's support as a strong, stable ally. During our talks, I raised issues pertaining to critical minerals and other key shared priorities.

During talks with Minister @ryosei_akazawa, I was glad to share that thanks to President Trump’s policy of American Energy Dominance, the United States is now exporting a record amount of energy to the world. I highlighted the continued positive collaboration between the United States and Japan on issues pertaining to critical minerals and supply chains, and I emphasized the need for rapid and consistent progress on the U.S.-Japan investment agreement.

In my meeting with Minister @satsukikatayama, I was pleased to reaffirm the strong economic partnership between the United States and Japan. The level of communication and coordination between our teams in addressing undesirable, excess volatility in currency markets continues to be constant and robust. I congratulated the Minister on Japan’s strong economic resiliency, and we held positive discussions on the U.S.-Japan investment agreement, our shared efforts on critical minerals, and the United States’ support for Japan as it works to build an investment screening mechanism.

As Iran’s military desperately tries to regroup, Economic Fury will continue to deprive the regime of funding for its weapons programs, terrorist proxies, and nuclear ambitions. Treasury will continue to cut the Iranian regime off from the financial networks it uses to carry out terrorist acts and to destabilize the global economy.

On Tuesday, I will meet in Tokyo with Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae, Finance Minister @satsukikatayama, and other government and private sector representatives for discussions on the U.S.-Japan economic relationship. On Wednesday, I will stop in Seoul for a discussion with Vice Premier He Lifeng of China, before continuing on to Beijing for the Leaders’ Summit between President Trump and President Xi. Had Spirit Airlines been allowed to merge with Jet Blue, it would have given them much more resiliency.   Thanks to @SenWarren, @PeteButtigieg, and all of their friends in the Biden Administration who backed their enthusiastic opposition to the Spirit-Jet Blue merger, dozens of regional airports will now lose service and thousands of jobs will now be lost.

Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and under @POTUS’ leadership, Treasury is moving aggressively, through Economic Fury, to sever the Iranian military’s financial lifelines.
