UEFA has told Sky News the "conditions have not been met" to lift its boycott of the World Cup and there is still a lack of confidence in Gianni Infantino - despite his apology.
Sky's @RobHarris reports
UEFA tells Infantino: resign or we will vote to oust you.
FIFA's own internal power systems have just watched Infantino burn the CONMEBOL gambit and found out it was toothless. he did something so egregious that UEFA had to take the doomsday option.
And it turned out, FIFA needs UEFA far more than a new organisation by UEFA needs CONMEBOL.
So the entire gambit of giving CONMEBOL all those free entry slots to the world cup in return for unwavering support for FIFA has failed.
That means FIFA are fucked and CONMEBOL are fucked. It also means Infantino will be booted by the FIFA powerbrokers themselves irregardless of UEFA.
Wouldn't shock me if they find an even more despicable candidate to replace him though.
UEFA said Saturday it had lost confidence in FIFA's leadership—despite President Gianni Infantino's decision to abandon his plan to invite private investors into a new commercial venture tied to the World Cup. It could embolden challengers to emerge as his reelection looms.
UEFA says it has lost confidence in FIFA President Gianni Infantino and that “no option should be off the table” as it will pursue a full review of his now abandoned plan to sell stakes of the World Cup to private equity investors.
UEFA will boycott FIFA tournaments if Gianni Infantino goes ahead with his proposal to sell off a stake in the World Cup. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of all UEFA’s 55 member associations.
Infantino's position has become untenable. No way FIFA continue down this road without UEFA backing, there's too much money invovled.
That being said, with the amount of blatant corruption being held up in front of our faces in all facets of life, I have little confidence the right thing will be done.
UE 5.8 is an awesome piece of technology. We wanted to take some time to understand what the great folks at Epic and Meshcapade had built.
Our amazing animation lead Donald took both for a spin. Check out our honest assessment 🤸
UEFA has issued a statement condemning FIFA’s decision to overturn Folarin Balogun’s red card
The organization said that the decision to overturn the ex-gooner’s suspension crossed a red line and that it is ‘incomprehensible and unjustifiable’
