UNDP And ICP's Dfinity Launch Sovereign AI Pilot For Global Governments A collaboration between UNDP and @DFINITY aims to launch a pilot program that offers a decentralized solution for government agencies to move away from foreign cloud providers based in the United States. The project enables sovereign nations to deploy AI applications for public services on the $ICP blockchain, with all citizens’ data remaining in their own jurisdictions rather than being stored on foreign hyperscale clouds. Within the next 30 days, five nations from Latin America, Africa, and Asia will be chosen to pilot AI for the health and digital identification sectors, among others.

UN Deputy Secretary-General and UNDP Administrator @alexanderdecroo highlighted China’s contribution to global AI governance. With many developing countries facing gaps in AI capacity, governance and infrastructure, he welcomed China’s pledge to provide AI-powered meteorological systems and 5,000 training opportunities to help ensure AI benefits all.
