✈️ Aviation helps deliver a quick wildfire response. Early detection and an aggressive response are key as CAL FIRE works to keep 95% of wildfires to 10 acres or less. When a half-acre fire was reported near Auburn last month, CAL FIRE and partner agencies quickly responded. This is how fast it happens. While crews were responding to the Gann Fire, a new column of smoke appeared. Crews moved in quickly, bringing dozers, aircraft, and firefighters to the fire before it had a chance to grow. Dozers cut containment lines. Aircraft dropped retardant and water. Firefighters attacked from the ground. The Gelding Fire was stopped at 3 acres. For a videographer, getting to capture those first moments is rare.
