Xbox started tagging Xbox One discs in 2011. That’s what disc-to-digital runs on now. Slot the disc, get a digital copy. Same idea they walked back at Xbox One launch. Not every disc works. Early presses might not have the ID. Damaged ones can fail too. Publishers have to opt in. Ubisoft games started showing up. Sony’s ending PlayStation discs in 2028. This isn’t something they can copy unless they already tagged theirs.

Xbox is rolling out its Disc-to-Digital Licensing test to select Xbox Insiders today. The feature can convert eligible Xbox One and Xbox Series X game discs into digital licenses, >Xbox Play Anywhere games are supported >Multi-disc games only use the first disc for the license >Some Ultimate Editions and similar releases can include their on-disc add-ons The license stays connected to the physical disc, so selling or giving away the disc can affect access later.

Big news. Xbox has just announced Disc-to-Digital. Users can now digitize their physical games. Insert a supported Xbox One or Xbox Series X disc once to claim a digital entitlement, then play without keeping the disc inserted, with Xbox Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming support where available, while the physical disc itself continues to work normally.

Activision is ending support for Call of Duty: Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. >Starting June 4, Warzone will be removed from the PS4 and Xbox One download stores, so new downloads will no longer be available. >Purchases made with real money, including COD Points and BlackCell, will also be removed from the in-game store and menus on those platforms. The Battle Pass will still be available. >On June 25, the full in-game store will be removed from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. >You can keep playing Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One until the end of Season 6 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. If you already own the game on PS4 or Xbox One, you can continue playing until then. Your progress and content bought with COD Points will carry over as long as you use the same linked Activision account.

The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park launches Nov. 3 on PS4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Ubisoft is opening Central Park for the first time. It was a mass burial ground in the original outbreak. Now it’s overgrown. Agents get a distress signal from inside, people vanish, and this one leans harder into horror than previous expansions. New map also covers the Upper West Side from Lincoln Square to the Dakota District. Three companions: Brayleigh Callahan, Elwood Franklin, and Morse Feeney. Solo or co-op. Endgame starts you as prey with no tech, then flips you to hunter. Six skill variants, a new gear set, and an Exotic called The Ratel. Ocarina of Time hits Switch 2 two days later, Nov. 5.

Fans are calling out Obsidian Entertainment after the studio announced a “free upgrade” for The Outer Worlds. Obsidian’s April 30 announcement said things like: “If you have at least the base edition of The Outer Worlds in your library before May 27th, you will be receiving the Spacer’s Choice Edition free. That’s right, free! This is for all platforms…” The issue is that many players say the upgrade is not truly free for everyone. To access the upgraded The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition: > On PC, Ps5, and Xbox X|S, owners of the base game before May 27 receive the upgraded edition at no extra cost. >On last-gen (PS4 and Xbox One), players must own both the base game and the two DLC expansions to qualify for the free upgrade. The Outer Worlds later released a statement regarding The Spacer’s Choice Edition upgrade: "If you purchased the base game on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 between 4/30 and 5/27, or have any issues with the upgrade, please contact our support team and we’ll work with you to make it right."
