Alien: Isolation 2 is expanding the survival horror formula with outdoor environments, and Creative Assembly says this will change how the Xenomorph hunts you. >The sequel will take players beyond the original space station to a mix of outdoor colony areas and Weyland-Yutani facilities. Being outside will not necessarily be safer. Players will have to pay more attention to their surroundings and think on their feet. >Weather will also affect the experience. Storms can change the sounds around the player, making it harder to tell where the Xenomorph is coming from. Players may have to improvise depending on what is happening around them. >The Xenomorph will adapt to these environments as well. “The alien is the perfect hunter. It will adapt to those situations, to those environments. And you will have to adapt to our environment,” said principal UI artist Laura Mouther. >Creative Assembly wants the Alien to feel dangerous without feeling like it is cheating. Its ability to find you will still depend on what it can actually see and hear. “If it can’t see you, it can’t see you. If it can’t hear you, it can’t hear you.” Players who have not played the first game will have enough time to learn the mechanics, but the sequel will still be an intense experience and a tough game.
