Albania Records Historic Religious Shift For the first time in nearly 200 years, Muslims are no longer the majority in Albania. The 2023 census puts them at 45.9%, down from 56.7% in 2011. Christians were recorded at around 16%, though the Orthodox Church disputes this and says the real number is over 24%. An Albany Muslim convert who praised 9/11 just got bagged by the FBI for plotting to bomb New York’s Capitol with a DoorDash bag. Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, New York, is charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS. The complaint says she converted about five years ago, used the name Aisha Saif, and wrote “Praise be to Allah for September 11th.” Another message: “When I can migrate, I will poison these infidels.” She recorded a bay’ah, a written oath of allegiance, and agents found that note on her when they cuffed her Aug. 19. She told a source she wanted to “destroy as much of the building as possible and k*ll the senators while they are meeting.” She cased the Capitol about five times, picked Washington Avenue and Hawk Street, and said she hoped to “take out at least half” of roughly 200 people inside. The delivery cover was a DoorDash bag. On Aug. 5 she walked into a Rensselaer Home Depot in a burqa with informant cash and bought nails she asked about as shrapnel. “I hope the nails are big enough … because the nails work as shrapnel, right?” She paid $150 for what she thought was a handg*n, magazine, and ammo, and $200 she wanted sent to a bombmaker. If her roommate found the parts, she said she “would have to k*ll the roommate quietly” and “would have to cut her.” After the Albany hit she talked about fleeing to Syria and coming back for New Year’s Eve in Times Square. In the car with informants she said she went from “a little girl waving an American flag after 9/11 to now having stickers of the falling towers.” The g*n and explosive she walked out with were dummies. The FBI still had to run a five-week sting two miles from the building she wanted leveled. That is how fast an online convert can go from flag-waving kid to ISIS applicant in New York.
