Some LC-36 updates. Now that we’ve had access to the pad and integration facility we can share a bit of good news. The propellant farm, oxygen, liquid hydrogen and LNG tanks are all in good shape. This is good luck because these are very long lead items. The water tower is also good. The big support tower is damaged, but it can be repaired in place rather than torn down and replaced. The booster “Never Tell Me The Odds” and the three GS-2s that were onsite in the integration facility also look good. I’ve seen some speculation that we might move directly to the 9x4 configuration, but we won’t do that. Rate manufacturing of 7x2 is going well, and we’re going to continue that at pace as planned and store the stages for use. In addition, we had already been working for some time on eliminating our transporter-erector in favor of an alternative vertical conop, and we’ll now go directly to that; so we don’t need a new transporter-erector. What is a Canton Network Super Validator? @CantonNetwork super validators (SVs) support the backbone of the network itself, and some of finance and blockchain's biggest names are among them. Core Role: While standard validators process and store data for transactions they are directly involved in, SVs help to secure and manage the network itself, by helping to operate the Global Synchronizer. They use a Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) consensus mechanism to sequence and validate transactions and, in doing so, allow for interoperability across Canton's network-of-networks. Governance: SVs are often members of the @CantonFdn and vote on crucial protocol upgrades and improvement proposals, including the acceptance of new super validators. It is for this reason that a high degree of trust is required. SV Weight: Not all SVs are created equal. A 'weight' is given to each which reflects their relative influence when it comes to both governance and reward distribution. The weight system operates on a 1-10 basis, with 10 being the maximum that can be assigned. The above really just scratches the surface when it comes to the role played by SVs in the $CC ecosystem. I didn't expect the most interesting robotics deal I read about this month to be a fish-killing machine, but here we are. @ShinkeiSystems builds a robot called Poseidon that sits on fishing boats. When a fish comes out of the water, the machine scans it, finds the brain, and pierces it within seconds, before stress hormones ruin the meat. It's the Japanese ike jime technique, except no craftsman is involved and it runs at sea, at scale. Shelf life goes from 5-7 days to 12-14. The company has cooked fish three weeks out of the water. Restaurants holding a combined 50 Michelin stars are already buying, and Japan is even importing American-caught fish now, which I'm told has basically never happened outside of tuna. What convinced me this is a real business, though, is the supply chain math underneath. A lot of fish caught by American boats today gets frozen, shipped to China for gutting and filleting, then shipped back across the Pacific to be sold in US stores. Roughly 18% of American-caught fish spoils between dock and store. Shinkei's actual bet: kill at sea, then process and distribute everything out of one 16,000 sq ft plant in Tacoma, and beat that round trip on cost. (The detail I also keep thinking about is from the @foundersfund partner @zebulgar who did the deal: AI and defense, the two most consensus trades in venture right now, are only 15 to 20% of Founders Fund's deployed capital. I would have guessed at least double. He also said the fund keeps its exposure to crowded trades low on purpose.)
