Anthropic’s 7 co-founders reportedly own ~14% of the company, roughly 2% each. They’re seeking 50.1% of the voting power. This kind of control has precedent, but those founders generally came public owning much more of their companies. Page and Brin owned ~32% of Google at IPO, Zuckerberg ~28% of Facebook, and Spiegel and Murphy ~36% of Snap. They all still have majority voting control. (For context, a recent dataset of 79 dual-class VC-backed IPOs shows only 15% gave the CEO majority voting power, with a median voting power of 18%.) Then Anthropic adds another layer: Long-Term Benefit Trust, an "independent group" created to protect the company’s public-benefit mission, owns zero equity but can still elect a majority of the board. The Trust has roots in the Effective Altruism/AI safety world. Needless to say, controversial. So public investors may own ~86% of the economics while the founders control the shareholder vote and a "mission-driven trust" controls the board. Hard to believe this structure doesn’t cost Anthropic some multiple.

Anthropic signed an $11.6bn, seven-year deal for CPU capacity on Akamai’s distributed cloud infrastructure, with the potential to expand by another $9bn, taking the total opportunity to around $20bn. In layman’s terms Akamai is renting Anthropic a huge amount of computing capacity — not GPU chips used to train frontier models, but CPU-based cloud infrastructure spread across Akamai’s global network. The agreement is roughly six times larger than Anthropic’s May contract with Akamai and helps explain the renewed interest in CPU, edge and distributed cloud names after the Muse/Instinct-led agentic AI rally. It does come with heavy capital intensity, including around $5.5bn of capex tied to the deal and roughly $1.7bn of additional 2026 spend to secure key supply-chain components such as memory, but the read-through is clear: frontier model demand is spreading across the infrastructure stack, and Akamai is now being treated as a more credible AI-capacity beneficiary: GS

Anthropic reportedly plans to give its seven co-founders majority voting control ahead of its IPO, which gives them much more power. The Information reports that a proposed Palantir-style share structure would give them 50.1% of voting power on most corporate matters, as long as at least three founders retain a minimum number of shares. Dario Amodei reportedly owns around 2% of Anthropic. The new shares would add voting power without additional economic ownership.
