According to employees, the factory enforces a one-day-off-per-week schedule, with shifts lasting up to 12 hours a day. Workers said they "don't even dare to use the toilet or drink water" during their shifts due to the intensity of the workload. Despite the grueling conditions, many employees reported earning only around 1,800 yuan that month.

A longtime women’s apparel retailer is closing 120 stores as economic pressure weighs on its price-conscious customers. Cato Corporation, which operates more than 1,000 Cato Fashions stores across 31 states, says it is more than doubling its originally planned closures from 50 locations to 120 by the end of the fiscal year. The company says pressure on shoppers’ discretionary income has made it unlikely that struggling locations will improve, while quarterly net income recently fell from $6.8 million a year ago to $1.1 million.
