NextEra Energy $NEE, is leading the privately funded buildout alongside Brookfield $BN. It includes 2 gigawatts of new natural gas-fired power and up to 2.6 gigawatts of battery storage at or near the site.
The site: a shuttered Cold War-era uranium-enrichment facility in Paducah, Kentucky, being converted into a data center campus with its own dedicated power plant, per the Energy Department's Wednesday announcement.
For scale: 1 gigawatt is roughly the output of a traditional nuclear power plant, enough to power about 750,000 homes at any given moment. This project alone adds nearly 5 gigawatts of combined generation and storage capacity.

NAVER, NVIDIA $NVDA, and Brookfield $BN announced plans to more than triple Korea's NVIDIA DSX AI factory buildout, from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts by 2028, with a longer-term path to 1 gigawatt.
