Latest tokenization news ↓ 1️⃣ Clearstream Expands Its Tokenization Plans Clearstream is preparing to let clients tokenize portions of the €22 trillion in assets it holds in custody, with initial issuances planned for later this year. 2️⃣ Citi Moves Toward Institutional Digital Asset Custody Citi plans to launch digital asset custody later this year, beginning with Bitcoin and integrating it with traditional custody through Custody+. 3️⃣ SEC Proposes New Framework for Crypto Capital Formation The SEC proposed tailored offering exemptions for certain non-security crypto assets subject to investment contracts, including a $5 million startup exemption, a $75 million annual fundraising exemption, and an investment contract safe harbor. 4️⃣ Tokenized Stocks Reach $2.8 Billion Tokenized stocks reached approximately $2.8 billion in market cap, with their share of the broader tokenized RWA market tripling since the beginning of 2026. 5️⃣ Mercer Publishes Tokenization Primer for Investors Mercer framed tokenization as an upgrade to financial infrastructure and reported that tokenized RWAs excluding stablecoins grew 214% year over year through April. 6️⃣ Tokenization Is Having Its ETF Moment Ondo Finance’s John Hoffman compared tokenization’s adoption curve to early ETFs, noting that stablecoins took three years to reach $1 billion, tokenized Treasuries took 18 months, and Ondo Stocks reached the milestone in eight months.
