Why Hedera's HBAR rally is quietly cutting fees in the token's own terms @hedera prices its network fees in dollars rather than in its own token. A fee schedule fixes the USD cost of each operation, and an on-network file carries the current exchange rate. Nodes convert the dollar fee into hedera-hashgraph:native at that rate, which refreshes roughly every hour. With HBAR trading near $0.076 after a 17% weekly climb, the same transaction now takes noticeably fewer HBAR than it did a week ago, while its dollar cost hasn't moved. Overpay on a transaction and only the actual fee is charged, with the excess returned. Query payments stay where they land, though simple lookups like balance checks are free.
