Houston left a black repeat felon on probation for str*ngling someone, then a father of five was k*lled. London Hogan Sr., 37, is charged with the June 6 m*rder of Louis Erebia, 56, after police say he carjacked Erebia’s son at g*npoint at a Houston gas station, then opened fire when the dad went after the truck. Erebia was sho*t near Airline and the North Loop. A passenger was also hit and hospitalized. Hogan is additionally charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated as$ault. He has not been convicted of those Houston counts. He was already supposed to be locked down. In March 2024 he pleaded guilty to as$ault of a family member by impeding breath, the choking case against a woman he was dating, and Harris County gave him five years of deferred adjudication. That is probation after he had his hands on her neck. Crime Stoppers of Houston’s Andy Kahn put it in plain English: “as$ault with intent to impede breathing, which is really just a code word for trying to str*ngle somebody to de*th.” While on that probation he went to Louisiana, a violation by itself, and was accused of trying to run more than $20,000 in drugs and alcohol into the federal prison at Pollock. He pleaded guilty there and got another three years of probation. Harris County prosecutors filed to revoke. 339th District Judge Te’iva Bell rejected the revocation, handed him 30 days with credit, and Kahn says that worked out to about two days in a cell. Six months later Erebia was de*d. Kahn called it a “cataclysmic failure of the criminal justice system.” Erebia’s people are first responders. They stood at that podium and said, “We demand justice. We are a family of first responders. We want the law to serve us.” Five kids no longer have their dad because a court treated a str*ngle case and a prison-smuggling case like paperwork. Say his name. Houston man says he ordered burgers on DoorDash but was surprised when a "glizzy" showed up. A Houston father says he was shocked to realize his DoorDash driver was delivering his food without clothes. "We all had some double cheeseburgers. I had a Whopper, but Buddy brought some hot dogs or something. He brought a glizzy, and ain't nobody want that," Kiante Matlock said. DoorDash says the driver has been permanently removed from the platform.
