Nuclear startup Apollo Atomics is trying to cut the cost of nuclear power by shrinking one of the biggest components in a plant: "The steam generator." Instead of the traditional multi-story design, Apollo has developed a person-sized steam generator that it says can be mass-produced and make the overall reactor up to 40x smaller. The company just raised $26M to build a demonstration reactor, with commercial deployment targeted for 2028 and a long-term goal of producing power at around 3¢/kWh.
