Bentley today teased the interior of its first ever EV called Torcal. The interior will use Merino wool for the first time in automotive history, as well as wood trim with up to 1,000 layers. "Torcal introduces a new generation of materials, finishes and textures, including Merino wool. Long celebrated in the worlds of fashion and interior design for its softness, warmth and natural elegance, wool has historically lacked the durability required for automotive applications. That challenge has now been overcome. Bentley has partnered with Fox Brothers, the Somerset cloth maker that has been weaving fine wool fabrics since the 1700's. The collaboration resulted in the world's first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric capable of meeting the exacting demands of a luxury vehicle. Torcal also debuts a new Ombre Veneer. Created from sustainably sourced walnut off-cuts and craft (recycled) paper, the veneer is formed from up to 1,000 individually selected layers that are carefully pressed together before being sliced to less than a millimeter in thickness."
