Elon on Terafab: "Taking into account taxes paid by SpaceX employees and contractors, Terafab will far exceed all revenue that Grimes County currently earns."
Something that perhaps isn’t clear is that, if this location works out (other locations are still in the running), SpaceX will still be paying an annual amount that increases tax revenue for Grimes County by ~25% and will be by far the biggest source of revenue for the county. Taking into account taxes paid by SpaceX employees and contractors, Terafab will far exceed ALL revenue that Grimes County currently earns! The reason SpaceX asked for this, which is standard practice for massive capital investments, is because Terafab will have a large number of extremely expensive machines for making chips. Property tax on these crazy money machines would put us at a serious competitive disadvantage relative to other chip fabs in the world.

Today, SpaceX received approval from Grimes County, Texas for huge tax breaks for the company's Terafab project. The tax abatement would give SpaceX a full exemption on property taxes tied to the project. County leaders have framed the Terafab proposal as a potentially transformative moment for Grimes County. Judge Joe Fauth called it a “generational change." Grimes County commissioners voted 4-1 to grant the company a tax increment reinvestment zone and tax breaks for the $55 billion project east of College Station. More info:

SpaceX has joined three other industry groups in calling on the FCC to adopt a nationwide policy to automatically unlock phones tied to a carrier’s network 180 days after activation. “Automatic mobile device unlocking is essential to protecting consumer choice, promoting competition, and lowering costs in the mobile marketplace. We urge the FCC to prioritize the needs of consumers and their families over large corporations’ abilities to thwart competition,” SpaceX says.

NASA has just launched a new website for its Moon Base missions, which aims to build a permanent $20 billion U.S. base on the Moon. @SpaceX's Starship rocket will play a big role in these missions. "The Moon Base is a home away from Earth for Artemis astronauts who will live and work at humanity’s first lunar outpost. NASA is leading global teams of innovators across international space agencies, industry, and academia to build the Moon Base and establish an enduring human presence near the lunar South Pole for the benefit of all. Phase One (Now–2029): Experiment and Learn NASA will begin with a rapid series of robotic missions to scout the lunar South Pole region, test technologies, and prepare for surface operations ahead of future astronaut missions.: • A major increase in lunar activity, with up to 25 missions, including 21 landings. • Crewed and autonomous rovers for mobility demonstrations and surface preparation, along with four drones known as MoonFall and communications relay and observation satellites. • Early demonstrations of power, navigation, communications, and nuclear radioisotope heater unit technologies designed to endure the long lunar night. • Scientific payload opportunities integrated across landers and rovers. • The first tangible footprint of Moon Base effort, with four tons of payload delivered to test what works on the lunar surface. Phase Two (2029–2032): Early Habitation By 2029, NASA will transition to assembling semi-permanent infrastructure and initiating early habitation and logistics operations: • Deployment of expanded solar power systems and initial nuclear surface power capabilities, potentially including fission reactors and radioisotope power systems. • Upgraded rovers, potential advanced MoonFall drones, and early habitation elements. • Enhanced surface-to-orbit communications networks to provide reliable connectivity across the lunar South Pole region. • Delivery of up to 60 tons of cargo through as many as 24 landings using low-, medium-, and heavy-class cargo landers. Phase Three (2032 and Beyond): Sustained Human Presence This phase will scale operations to achieve a true enduring presence, with routine crew rotations and continuous surface activity. This is when living and working on the Moon becomes a reality: • Semi-permanent habitation modules with spacious interior for crew living and operations. • Operational fission surface power systems capable of delivering steady, reliable energy through the long lunar nights, leveraging in situ resource manufacturing. • Advanced logistics networks supported by crewed and autonomous rovers to keep the base supplied and functioning year-round. • Delivery of up to 38 tons of cargo annually to sustain habitats, power systems, logistics operations, and major science outposts, enabled by low-cost reusable heavy-lift capabilities." Never thought I'd say this about a Ferrari, but this is one of the ugliest EV designs ever, and it can be all yours for $640,000 lol
Ferrari has just officially unveiled its first ever all-electric car, called the Ferrari Luce. • Starting price: $640,000 • Interior co-designed with Apple's former head of design, Jony Ive • Range: 280 miles (expected EPA) • Peak charging speed: 350kW • 122 kWh battery • 1,050 horsepower • 0-60mph: 2.4s • 800v • Four-door four-seater • Four electric motors • OLED screens • Weight: 4,982 lbs • Front motors spin to 30,000 rpm, rears hit 25,500 rpm • Car uses an accelerometer to capture real vibrations from the electric motors & rear chassis. An algorithm filters out unpleasant frequencies and amplifies only the more “musical” sounds. This can be heard inside and outside the car. • Paddle shifter on steering wheel changes how aggressively torque is delivered, with five different levels • The trunk has 21.1 cubic feet of space, the largest luggage capacity the company has ever offered • 197.6 inches long, about as long as a Tesla Model S U.S. deliveries start in Q2 2027. More photos in the thread below:

Lars Moravy in new interview on why the @Tesla Model S and Model X were discontinued: "Every 5 years or so Euro NCAP updates their protocols. Looking forward, they are getting more stringent. Some of the IIHS stuff. We want to make the safety cars on the road, and that means always making structural updates. We were at the point where this platform, like it was never designed for the small overlap and the offset cases that exist now on Europe NCAP and IIHS. We made bandaids along the way to make sure it was being safe in those positions, but it was just like man it's going to be a massive overhaul. At the same time, going back to the room it was like we were talking about Optimus and like where do we put Optimus and it was like well we got to spend you know however many hundreds of millions of dollars to redo this in this factory, but we also need a pilot factory for Optimus. And it just kind of was like serendipitous. I think that the two things went hand in hand. You said who was the first one to bring it up. The future is autonomous. These cars were the first ones we designed. They're the least ready for that, you know, world. So, we got to move forward." Sounds like it just wasn't worth the investment, since it was likely going to cost several hundreds of millions to retool and redesign, and maybe even more to build a pilot Optimus factory somewhere else, when it would just make more sense to use the S/X space in the Fremont factory. (You can listen to the full interview in Ryan’s post below)

Elon has officially announced that he will be appealing the OpenAI trial verdict: "I will be filing an appeal with the Ninth Circuit, because creating a precedent to loot charities is incredibly destructive to charitable giving in America."
Regarding the OpenAI case, the judge & jury never actually ruled on the merits of the case, just on a calendar technicality. There is no question to anyone following the case in detail that Altman & Brockman did in fact enrich themselves by stealing a charity. The only question is WHEN they did it! I will be filing an appeal with the Ninth Circuit, because creating a precedent to loot charities is incredibly destructive to charitable giving in America. OpenAI was founded to benefit all of humanity.
