Throughout the panel discussion yesterday at @tokenpostkr's private Institutional Day forum, I emphasized the pivotal role of the governments in mass-adoption. It is not a choice, but a given fact that we should work hand-in-hand with them as they can be gatekeepers, but also the trigger and turning point for institutions, banks, and retail users to naturally adopt and use onchain digital services. In the meantime, CBDC pilot testing also known as Project Hangang has been quite helpful in including Korean citizens and commercial banks to prepare and think of how to incorporate digital wallets, IDs, and deposit tokens. Although the conclusion of the second-phase of Korean Digital Asset Basic Act (DABA) had to be postponed till the Regional Elections end in June, I am quite hopeful that the regulatory framework will be established and more Korean digital currency service providers will be able to push the industry forward under more clarity.
