Road closures in the area of the Islamic Center of San Diego have been lifted.
This includes Balboa Ave. and Eckstrom Ave.

We have reduced the Genasys advisory zone as we shift from response operations into the investigative phase.
The area has been narrowed and contained to Eckstrom Ave, Cosmo St, Balboa Ave, and Hathaway St. Please continue to avoid the area while investigators work.

Road closures remain in place in the area. Please avoid the following streets and use alternate routes:
Balboa Ave is closed in both directions between Canning Dr and Ruffner St.
The northbound and southbound I-805 on-ramps and off-ramps to Balboa Ave are closed.
Charger Blvd is closed from Boxford Dr to Balboa Ave.
Eckstrom Ave is closed from Balboa Ave to Ashford St.
Ashford St is closed from Eckstrom Ave to Marlesta Dr.
Hathaway St is closed from Eckstrom Ave to Petit St.
Bautista St is closed from Hatton St to Biddle St.

At 11:43 a.m., we received the first 911 call reporting an active shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego in the 7000 block of Eckstrom Ave. The first officers arrived in less than 4 minutes.
Five people are deceased, including two male suspects, ages 17 and 19. Three victims were killed at the Islamic Center, including a security guard.
At 11:52 a.m., we received another 911 call in the 7100 block of Salerno St. reporting the suspects had fired multiple rounds at a gardener.
Officers later located the suspects in a vehicle in the 3800 block of Hatton St.
There is no ongoing threat to the public. This remains an active investigation.

All southbound State Route 163 lanes from I-8 to I-5 will close Saturday, May 9, from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. for maintenance and repairs. This includes the east and westbound I-8 ramps to southbound SR-163 and the Washington St. and Robinson Avenue on-ramps.

Residents can access an alternate route at San Dieguito Rd. and Caminito Pacifica Trail.

No active or credible threat to Torrey Pines High School.
This morning, SDPD received a call referencing a subject threatening Torrey Pines High School. Officers responded immediately and confirmed there was no active or credible threat to the campus.
Our officers will maintain a presence in the area throughout the day.
