This has been a years long annoyance on X I think the solution would be to either 1) not show a stale timeline, or 2) show stale timeline with a banner on top "this is stale, to see new posts pull down" or something The annoyance of opening X, then seeing a post, then it disappearing within a second when timeline loads is big :D

Spent lots of time last month getting a CPF, bank, and SIM in Brazil and it's mostly a bureaucratic humiliation ritual for foreigners where every step goes wrong, including steps you never knew existed. Across Asia I can generally land, get a SIM with working data in minutes and maybe even open a bank account within an hour. For years you could get a CPF by email, so you'll find countless people telling you online it's quick and easy. That information is now out of date. Here's the truth as of 2026: You used to be able to get the whole thing done at Banco do Brasil or the Correios for R$7. Now they just charge you to fill out and print a form you can do yourself online for free. Bargain. Either way, you then have to take the form to the Receita Federal (RF). You can't just turn up during opening hours either. You won't even get past the security guard. It took two trips before he finally shared the secret: you need to be there at 8am, an hour before they open, because they only issue 15 CPFs per day. 🤯 So on the third trip I at least knew to turn up early. I was 3rd in line and it still took 2 hours, but I did at least get confirmation my CPF would arrive by email within a week. Hard part over. You'd think. Then came the phone number. I tried to buy a Vivo eSIM online, but to buy a Brazilian phone number from their website you need a Brazilian phone number to sign up. Makes sense, why else would you be wanting to buy a phone number from a telco if you didn't already have one. 🐔🥚 So I figured I'd try going to a store. They tell me they don't sell prepaid SIMs or issue eSIMs, and that I should go buy one at a kiosk. Apple stores also don't sell iPhones anymore I hear. The kiosk sells physical SIMs. Fine. I'll activate it in my old phone, convert it to eSIM and move it to my real phone. I am sure that'll all go smoothly. I figured activation would work at least. Nope. I text my CPF to the activation number and they say it's invalid. Awesome. Of course it is. Why would that work. 🤪 The store can't activate it either. Apparently it can take ~3 months for a new CPF to propagate through their systems and I need to “use it in other systems” in the meantime, like the supermarket. Five hours of online support later (they do let you AFK at least 🙃), they finally activate the SIM using a photo of my passport next to my CPF on my phone. Except because it was activated with my passport, not my CPF, I can't convert it to eSIM or use their app, and they text me every few days threatening to deactivate my line. Wonderful. Then they tell me the SIM can't even receive SMS until I top it up. Makes sense, why make it work like other telcos when you can add random extra steps. So I try to top it up, but their website requires SMS verification to do that, and my phone can't even receive that SMS. One must already have credit to acquire credit. Nice. So I top it up through Ding instead. Why not, we've come this far. I'd have used my Brazil bank but of course I can't get one of those until the number works. Now I finally have a working Brazilian SIM with data, but only in my old phone, and every few days they text me that my CPF is invalid and they're going to deactivate my line. Done? Done. Next the bank. I discover that most banks won't let a foreigner open an account with just a CPF anymore. My friends have all kinds of accounts that you can no longer obtain. You now need additional Brazilian ID that generally only residents and long-term visa holders can obtain. I did eventually manage to open a C6 account and get PIX working, but that account is tied to the same phone number that may randomly self-immolate. So after a week I have a CPF that some systems recognize and some don't, a bank account tied to that number, and a SIM card I can't put in my actual phone. At least I can finally pay for my own Mate 😂🍹 Welcome to Brazil 🇧🇷

I plug my Starlink on the roof with a LAN cable straight into a Unifi router with 3 APs (one on each floor's ceiling) and 2 outdoor APs You can't rely on the Starlink WiFi too much because it's so compact and the WiFi router is INSIDE the dish, so if it's outside and you close the doors the signal isn't great Gotta LAN it up

When I watch a video, then it goes to the next video Then I exit the video player Now I wanna go back to that 2nd video So I play the 1st video again hoping I get back to that video timeline and swipe next but now it's empty and then it shows me other videos So the video order should be deterministic based on the first video I think

A bit of AI psychosis design vibe but yes good everyone building these custom dashboards for themselves I think AI great in combining lots of different data sources from your bank accounts, health sensor data, air quality sensor data, your startup revenue data from Stripe, investment returns, emails etc into one The best part is not the dashboard but that you can ask questions on what to improve and find correlations between everything So everyone gets healthier and wealthier!

I think the future of indiehacking is barbell shaped. On the right, build AI things for AI people. It will get cloned to shit. Some will work, many will not. Fastest execution plus distribution wins. Be prepared to make tons of money one month and nothing the next. On the left, build boring things that nobody wants to clone, that will take years to gain enough market share. Slow burn. CRM for Chihuahua owners. Newsletter tool for bakeries. Hyper niche. Everything in the middle is a dead zone now.

📡 Kinda anecdotal but I now have 2 friends with @Starlink (and so 3 if you include me) I loaned my Starlink Mini to @mick__net after his 🇵🇹 Portuguese ISP @NOS was (and still is!) down for 2+ months, while he lives 500 meters away from the NOS headquarters in Lisbon 😂 Nobody can fix it, customer support is useless and even cancelling his plan is difficult Anyway Starlink Mini got him his internet back immediately and saved his ass cause he had to work, and now he ordered his own and gave mine back, which I then used for traveling in Greece, and he's a Starlink convert Now today my other friend @cso_notes also got one in 🇷🇴 Romania! Adoption in Europe always comes a bit later than in US, but I think Starlink is starting to get a significant presence now Many people who I tell about Starlink are still skeptical about satellite internet, they always talk about latency issues, and they think latency is like 1 second but it's more like 10ms (1/100th of a second) which is the same or better than regular fiber internet I've never had so LITTLE issues with internet as since I had Starlink, it's never been down, it always just works and customer support is via chat and works really well I absolutely HATE having to call a phone number and be on hold for 30min or more and then wasting most of my day on stuff like this, which par for the course with Portuguese ISPs (and well every Portuguese business) So having Starlink is a godsend for me, it just works! 🙏

i was having dinner with someone recently who asked why i spend so much time reading & posting on x. she had a pretty negative perception of the platform mostly shaped by the mainstream narrative around it. my answer was simple. x is where the future gets beta tested. you basically get to watch ppl build things, talk through ideas, show off stuff, & argue about where everything is going, way way before it reaches anyone else. there really isn’t another surface on the internet quite like it.

Update on founding a company in Germany: The VAT ID arrived. 203 days after I started, almost €12k later. Then my tax firm asked for my trade registration. First time anyone mentioned it. Legally due the day I started. Filed it 3 weeks ago. Still waiting. Probably gonna get fined 1000€ for doing business before it.
