Key to long-term success in DeFi, as I'd always iterated, isn't simply "finding PMF". It's finding sustainable PMF that remains adaptable across crypto's constantly changing market conditions + narrative cycles. And IMO @pendle_fi is one of the few protocols that has managed to do exactly that. What started with V2 ~3 years ago as a relatively niche market for separating principal + yield has gradually embedded itself into one of DeFi's foundational financial layers. PTs have essentially become a universally recognised primitive for on-chain fixed yield. More importantly, Pendle's relevance isn't tied to any single underlying narrative. LSTs → LRTs → points markets → BTC-Fi → yield-bearing stablecoins → RWA-Fi / institutional fixed yield → PT collateral + looping. The assets change, but the underlying need for price discovery + trading of yield remains. And I think that's the real moat. Pendle doesn't necessarily need to predict which yield-bearing asset or sector wins next. As long as increasingly more capital moves on-chain + generates yield, there's a natural role for an infrastructure layer that allows the market to price, hedge + trade that yield. We're already seeing that scope expand beyond V2. PTs are increasingly integrated as collateral across lending markets such as @aave @Morpho with institutional curators onboard (Wintermute Armitage) , turning fixed-yield positions themselves into composable building blocks. PT Looping further abstracts what was previously a tedious recursive strategy into a much simpler user experience. Meanwhile, @boros_fi extends the same core thesis beyond tokenised yield altogether, bringing perpetual funding rates into an onchain interest-rate market and opening another massive category of rates exposure for Pendle to capture. Even the token economics have matured alongside the product. Since the transition towards sPENDLE, the article highlights >100M $PENDLE staked, emissions down 71% since January + >$3M of open-market buybacks, creating a much clearer relationship between protocol activity and tokenholder value accrual. And ofc, the biggest question here would be how will it continue to do well? Its product has evolved alongside DeFi without losing the fundamental primitive it was built around. Yield-bearing assets can change, narratives can rotate and market conditions can completely reverse. But as long as on-chain capital continues generating variable cash flows, there will be demand to price + trade those cash flows. Probably why @Shaurya477's line summarises the thesis better than anything: “If DeFi wins, Pendle wins.” Highly recommend a read on this thesis + follow this chad👇
