How has Kaspa fared since the Toccata Upgrade?
The Toccata protocol activated on Kaspa's (
@kaspaunchained) mainnet without a hitch on June 30, 2026, bringing native L1 covenants, covenant IDs, ZK proof verifications, and sequencing facilities.
While making the highly scalable PoW blockDAG network programmable, the upgrade left its UTXO architecture untouched. Activation had no issues because the hashrate was almost fully ready.
- Kaspa continues operating stably at a throughput of 10 blocks per second.
- Actual utilization rate is still low compared to the capacity, although covenants experienced fast growth, by more than 15 times during the first few weeks, with tokens, vaults, and experiments appearing on-chain.
After a short price rally around the event date, the $KAS coin is now trading at about $0.025 with a market capitalization of about $700 million.
The hashrate is lower than previous highs, driven by price pressure and reduced emissions.
