Peras, a proposed upgrade filed as CIP-140, adds a committee of block producers that votes to certify blocks at short intervals, cutting that wait to about two minutes. It does not change how many transactions fit in a block; that job belongs to the separate Leios upgrade. Peras targets Q2 2027 and needs an on-chain governance vote to activate.
