President Trump just signed an executive order at Johnson Space Center to begin building the United States Space Academy. Jared Isaacman chairs the commission that will design it. That is an action worth celebrating. Space is the future. Almost everyone has imagined it. Humans came from stardust. Exploring that origin while planting a future on other worlds is not a luxury. It is the kind of work that makes a life feel large. Let go of the personality fight for a minute and look at the act. A nation that wants to stay first on Earth cannot accept second place in space. Trump said it plainly today: “It’s called the U.S. Space Academy. That’s a big deal.” And: “A nation cannot be first on Earth if we’re going to be second in space. Just not going to happen.” West Point trains soldiers. This academy is meant to train the next corps of engineers, operators, civilians, and Space Force leaders who will actually do the work. That is how you turn a dream into a pipeline. Critics will sneer because of who signed it. Fine. The order is still the order. Ambition in space is bigger than one man’s style. A country that stops reaching upward starts shrinking. This is something to get excited about. That kind of excitement is a life worth living.
