Yesterday, my nephew was diagnosed with ADHD.
I have mixed emotions, not because ADHD is something to dread, but because it's different when it's family you helped raise.
I spent years mentoring my cousin, who has ADHD. Today he's 24, running his own landscaping business, and one of the most creative problem-solvers I know.
So I know this diagnosis isn't a limit on who my nephew can become.
But as the aunt stepping in to help his mom, I also know it means new routines, new patience, and a new way of showing up for him.
I'm not worried.
I'm not embarrassed.
I'm just steadying myself, ready to be the support he needs.
One diagnosis doesn't decide his future.
It's only the start of a journey we'll walk through together.
