the value of watching TV is so low now
before (back before streaming), you’d be participating in a common cultural moment. if everyone was watching a show, you wanted to watch it too. so there was some sort of a shared social element
now everyone watches their own shows on their own time. every once in a while, you maybe find something you and your significant other can really dive into for a while
otherwise, almost everything becomes missable, save for a couple of shows a year (at least that’s how i feel)
would rather spend that time playing strategy or story-driven video games tbqh (which have been unfairly maligned and are cognitively one of the better forms of entertainment)
