$META Rumors (which shouldn't be surprising) of Meta building a cloud business to sell excess AI capacity have shocked the data center plays.
However, from the article itself, it seems the markets misunderstood the rumors. The key is "excess," which sounds similar to SpaceX overbuilding for what they immediately needed and selling capacity beyond that.
A quote from Zuck from earlier in the year seems to confirm this.
'We haven't done that yet, because we think that we have a use for the compute. But obviously, if we get to a point where we feel that we have overbuilt, then that is an option that we have, and that is partially what gives us confidence in investing in building this out."
Until we know more, this seems like an overreaction.
