25 years ago, my dad was delivering the business headlines on the
@BBC when the first plane hit the North Tower.
He was scheduled to do a solo segment before handing the show back to the main anchors. But the anchors had gone on a break, and so he found himself covering the first few minutes of what would become one of the most devastating breaking news stories in history.
I’ve always admired the calm and professionalism with which he handled those first uncertain moments, and his ability to pull random facts about New York City from memory as the story unfolded.
