The Jones Act is total economic vandalism. Cheap Chinese junk can cross the Pacific on foreign ships and flood American markets, yet American goods cannot move between American ports unless they are carried on grotesquely expensive US-built, US-owned and US-crewed vessels. The law is punishing domestic trade in favor of foreign trade. Credit to President Trump for suspending this insanity. Now Congress should repeal the Jones Act for good.
