Should Venezuelan crudes fetch a higher premium than WCS in the USGC?
Simple yields from their crude assays show that Merey has higher middle distillates yields (kero and gasoil) and residue yields (which will be further upgraded in cokers into lighter products) at the expense of LPG and naphtha.
So the simple answer is yes.
There are of course more factors than just the simple yields (e.g. logistics to move the oil, individual refining upgrading values and constraints for these crudes, penalty discounts to manage risk around taking a crude that the refinery hasn't seen for a while).
