I think I'm in favor of a slowdown or even pause, not because I think doomsday scenarios are likely, but just because we've barely begun applying existing models to all the things we could apply them to.
Like we need some time to rebuild our infosec defenses using AI, before we let the AI get better at attacking it.
And that's just one small example. Almost every corner of society needs to be reorganized around this, and that's going to create a lot of churn, but I think we need to work through that before we're ready to proceed further.
