A man who violently sexually assaulted a woman — leaving her bruised, bitten and suffering serious physical and psychological injuries — had his prison sentence reduced because he is likely to be deported from Canada. This is outrageous. Being removed from Canada after committing a serious violent crime should be an additional consequence of your actions, not a reason for a sentencing discount. Yet while cases like this continue to erode Canadians’ confidence in our justice system, the Carney Liberals sit on their hands and refuse to fix the laws that have put offenders ahead of victims for far too long. No discounts. No excuses. Serve the sentence. Then get out of Canada.
