They were glorified as mujahideen, praised as martyrs, and handed plastic “Keys to Paradise” with the promise that if they died, heaven would be waiting. Today, the same regime is calling on women and children, through state television, to form a “Chain of the Bright Future” around military sites. A regime that treats its own people this way does not defend them. It consumes them to preserve itself.
