🇺🇸🇱🇷 ICE says it sent a Liberian civil-war fighter home after he spent almost 20 years in the U.S.. They named Amos Sheik Massaquoi, 55. They say he was a bodyguard for a Charles Taylor general and is tied to killings, torture, forced labor, and child soldiers from the 1989 to 2003 wars. He came in legally in 2006, overstayed by November, got arrested in 2019, walked out on bond, and was picked up again in April 2025. That is almost 6 more years after they already had him. They put him on a plane August 11th. Chicago ICE framed it as a warning that the U.S. is not a hideout after atrocities abroad. Liberia is separately taking 1,200 people who are not even Liberian.
