Yet we also defend the idea that insulting or blaspheming him can warrant the shedding of blood. But how can both claims be true? If Muhammad is the model of mercy for humanity, why would an insult directed at him become a justification for killing the person who uttered it? If he is truly a mercy to the worlds, why should words, however offensive, become a matter of blood? That contradiction deserves an honest answer.
