Democrats hadnโt even finished celebrating before CNN was asking the question Washington is now bracing for: how much energy will the new majorities spend on oversight and investigations?
CNNโs congressional reporter said the answer is already showing up on social media. She called it โ๐ ๐ง๐๐ฐ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ฏ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌโ arriving as the results were still coming in, and said it ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ โ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐โ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ง.โ
Her first example was Rep. Robert Garcia, the current ranking member of the House Oversight Committee and, in CNNโs words, the incoming chairman. Per CNN, he posted two words in all caps: โ๐ญ๐ข๐ธ๐บ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ถ๐ฑ.โ
That is the man in line to hold the gavel and the subpoena pen on the committee with the widest reach in Congress. His message, on the night the majority flipped, wasnโt about prices, jobs, or the border. It was about ๐ฐ๐ก๐จ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐๐ง ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฒ.
CNN walked through Democratsโ own posts as examples of what is on their minds. Voters were told this election was about their kitchen tables. The people they just empowered are already talking about subpoenas, and your tax dollars will fund every hearing.
