NORWAY🇳🇴 advances to the round of 16! Jacobin Magazine credited socialism for Haaland's success which is so laughable because it's actually the complete opposite. Haaland is not a glorious product of Norway's "inclusive, publicly funded model." Haaland's dad was actually a Premier League and national team player. So were the fathers of Sørloth and Thorstvedt. These aren't scrappy kids from the council pitches who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps thanks to the People's football utopia. They're hereditary football aristocracy, families with the cash, connections, and know-how to pay for every fancy facility, private course, and elite pathway that actually matters. It takes some Olympic-level mental gymnastics to pretend Erling Haaland is just "ordinary Norwegian football culture" when the lad has been micromanaged into superstardom by his dad-manager since he could walk. He's basically a walking billboard for inherited advantage dressed up in Viking helmets. (Btw Haaland's family lives in Switzerland to dodge the crazy high Norwegian taxes and hangs with billionaire tax refugees) Anyway, congratulations to NORWAY🇳🇴
