This is just a story about the Democratic Party becoming extremist. It's not the candidate choices who need to moderate -- it's the party's whole ideology.
Of course the GOP are extremist too, but that's no excuse.

something the "Dems should embrace moderation" crowd needs to address is the tendency for these marginal Dems to just become Republicans on their way out of office
Manchin and Golden are now actively campaigning for Republicans
