The Fortino di Mazzallakkar in Sicily is believed to have been built by the Aghlabids around 830 AD, possibly to defend the territory around Sambuca di Sicilia, which al-Idrisi refers to as Zabut. Some researchers see it as a caravanserai connecting Palermo to Sciacca.
