It’s no coincidence that Hawaii survived the most extreme geophysical event in my simulation...
Everyone is mocking Mark Zuckerberg for building his bunker in Hawaii, but it’s located on Kauaʻi, the northernmost of the main Hawaiian Islands. Kauaʻi has no active volcanoes and sits on the already elevated Hawaiian Ridge. As shown on this map, the island’s highest peak reaches 1,598 metres (5,243 feet).
So, if Zuckerberg builds his bunker at one of the island’s higher elevations, he should be safe even in the worst-case scenario involving mantle or crustal displacement and ocean spillover.
