After nearly four years and three months, another one of the thousands of customers of my bank finally got his money back. Of course, had OCIF not done a favor for the IRS by illegally putting my completely solvent bank into receivership purely as a publicity stunt for the J5, so they could turn their failed Atlantis investigation into a fake success, he could have withdrawn all of his money over four years ago. Even if there had been a legitimate regulatory reason to shut down my bank, there was no need to appoint a Receiver to return deposits. I offered to liquidate the bank myself and personally guarantee the return of all deposits. But the corrupt OCIF Commissioner insisted on appointing a Receiver instead, creating an obvious conflict of interest: the longer he takes to return customers’ money, the more money he makes. He has already made over $1 million while taking more than four years to return a tiny fraction of the bank’s deposits—which I could have returned myself in full within a few weeks. Below is a comment one customer just posted on a message board about his experience. It seems that he blames me for the agony he went through. My only mistake was opening a bank in Puerto Rico. I had no idea this would happen. I am the biggest victim of this crime. While I feel for the customers and am still doing my best to help them, blaming me lets the real culprits off the hook. All of the bad actors are government employees. The most corrupt and dishonest people in the world tend to work for governments. That is why government power needs to be kept to an absolute minimum. Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. A couple of weeks ago I finally got my money back, I opted︅ out. The process was incredibly long and arduous: 1) I was asked for the same documents multiple times, including bank statements and utility bills that I had already submitted in︆ due time. 2) I provided details for several bank accounts because the Receiver's bank couldn't︎ seem to process a standard wire transfer, and support kept telling me their attempts were‍ being rejected by my banks. 3) Eventually, out of sheer frustration, I set up additional⁢ accounts so they would run out of excuses. Bear in mind I did the video⁤ interview in early April, yet it took five months to get my money back, involving︌ countless emails and even a few phone calls to the Receiver's office. I lost about︀ 8% of the original balance. I can finally say I’ve put this nightmare behind me,⁣ but it is unacceptable it took so many months to execute just two bank transfers‌ (a test transfer and the final one). The poor service, approximation and lack of communication︍ from Wigberto Lugo Mender were scandalous. Thank you, Peter, for leading us into this agony,︊ much appreciated.
