Apple is reportedly developing a new anti-snatching security feature for iPhones that could automatically lock the device if it detects it has been stolen directly from a user’s hand. The feature targets one of the biggest smartphone theft risks: phones stolen while unlocked. In those moments, criminals can access banking apps, passwords, private messages, and account settings before the owner reacts. According to reports, the system may use motion sensors, location awareness, trusted device connections, and behavioral patterns to identify suspicious grab-and-run activity. If the iPhone detects potential theft in an unfamiliar environment, it could instantly lock the device and restrict access to sensitive data. The new protection would build on Apple’s existing tools such as Activation Lock, Find My iPhone, and Stolen Device Protection. The feature has not been officially announced, but references in development code suggest Apple is exploring the technology. If released, it could become one of the most important iPhone security upgrades against street theft and for user privacy.
