A California federal court has ordered YouTube to reveal the identities of three South Korean creators behind popular anime recap channels.
The creators argued that their videos were protected by fair use, but the court rejected that argument at this stage and granted KADOKAWA’s request to unmask them through a DMCA subpoena. The creators are appealing the decision.
They claimed their channels could actually help the official releases by sending viewers to Korea’s licensed anime streaming service Laftel.
