Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Forever beta is suffering from success, It has become so popular that Blizzard has had to raise the population cap again. WoW executive producer confirmed the latest increase, saying: “We had to increase the WoW: Forever Beta population cap again. The wild ride continues.” This follows server problems at launch. Senior game designer Josh Greenfield said he was seeing “the craziest numbers I’ve seen in 17 years working at Blizzard.” The beta reportedly costs at least $59.99 to access, yet players keep piling in. Blizzard originally described WoW: Forever as an edition aimed at “the millions of people who have had their accounts lapse” in Classic. Whatever Blizzard is doing with this version of WoW, it seems to be attracting far more players than the servers were prepared for.
