LOWCOUNTRY UPDATE Weekly Report from Congresswoman Nancy Mace CONSTITUENT SERVICES: Our casework team is managing 632 active cases and has now returned over $40.7 MILLION back to constituents, an $84K increase from last week alone. IN THE DISTRICT: Our team completed 23 events, meetings, ribbon cuttings, and site visits across the district this week, including: ➡️ Yemassee PD Grand Opening ➡️ Beaufort County Council Meeting ➡️ Summerville Rotary ➡️ Integrity Health Care Meeting ➡️ Chief Chito Walker Meeting ➡️ Charleston Digital Meeting ➡️ Dorchester County Economic Development Annual Meeting ➡️ USACE Visit with Meghan Holland from the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee ➡️ Dorchester County Administrator Meeting ➡️ Cummins Meeting FEDERAL FUNDING AND LOCAL PROJECTS: Detyens Shipyard: We set up a meeting with the Department of Commerce and Detyens Shipyard. Detyens employs 1,000 people per day and generates $1 BILLION in economic impact for our region. Charleston County Coroner's Office: We wrote a letter of support for a $116K DOJ grant to enhance law enforcement's ability to investigate deaths related to drug overdoses, human trafficking, and unidentified decedents. Lowcountry Waterway Name Change: We connected a Lowcountry County Councilman with the Department of the Interior's U.S. Board on Geographic Names liaison to begin the process of renaming a body of water currently bearing a racial slur. We plan on continuing to track this effort and provide a letter of support once the application is complete. South Carolina STRONG.
